The Jewish community came together at El Presidio Plaza to celebrate the start of Hanukkah with a light show and kosher pizza.
TUCSON, Ariz. — Camille Desopo watched as the 13 foot Jewish menorah was lit at El Presidio Plaza on Sunday.
Rabbi Yehuda Ceitlin from Chabad Tucson was the one who lit the menorah. He said it’s the tallest menorah in Tucson and for him, it’s a symbol of giving. Ceitlin said when the Jewish people took back the holy temple in Jerusalem, there was only enough oil for one day, but it lasted for 8. He said that’s why they have 8 days of Hanukkah and 8 candles on the menorah.
