The Toronto Blue Jays appear to be heating up as the All-Star break approaches.
Toronto right-hander Kevin Gausman will start the second game of the series. Gausman leads the American League with 146 strikeouts and has only given up nine home runs in 18 starts.
Gausman, who is 2-2 with a 3.41 ERA in 10 career starts against Detroit, will be making his last start prior to the All-Star Game. He was chosen for the second time in his career. He was selected in 2021 during his last season with San Francisco. He has made two starts since returning from the injured list. He gave up two runs and three hits in 5 2/3 innings against Texas on June 27, then allowed four runs and five hits in five innings at Colorado on Sunday."Any time you can come out of here with a win, I think it went well," Manning said. "It took me a couple of innings to feel what my body was going to do in the altitude, but during innings 3-to-5, I thought I was fine and put us in a position to win.
