4 kids removed from 'horrendous' Texas home that smelled like dead bodies, sheriff says
Small children were found living in squalor at an apartment on Montgomery Road on the Northeast Side.SAN ANTONIO — A couple is facing child endangerment charges after their four children — as young as 2 and as old as 13 — were found living in squalor Monday afternoon on the Northeast Side.
“The investigators that are pretty seasoned investigators that are used to dealing with decomposing bodies said this is one of the worst they have ever seen,” the sheriff said. “The smell was just horrendous.” Salazar said the mother, 37, is the biological mother of the children, while the man, 33, is the biological father of the two youngest children and stepfather to the older two. The other two fathers are “out of the picture,” Salazar said.
“Living in those conditions … I would imagine that there’s probably some health deterioration with that girl,” the sheriff said.
