With its engaging narrative and realistic dialogue, it's not surprising that some people have been wondering whether Forever My Girl is based on a true story. First released in 2018, Forever My Girl is a romantic drama following country musician, Liam Page, who leaves his fiancée, Josie, at the altar to focus on becoming a successful singer. While Liam does eventually return home 8 years later, he is soon in for a shock when he meets his and Josie's 7-year-old daughter, Billy.

Not only did they give it a respectable 79%, but they also helped it earn over $16.3 million at the box office .
Forever My Girl Is Not Based On A True Story Unfortunately, Forever My Girl is not based on a true story. Rather, it is adapted from Heidi McLaughlin's successful YA novel of the same name. Like the movie, the book follows a similar plot as Liam, who is a successful rockstar, returns home after discovering that a close friend of his has sadly passed away.
Although these are only minor amendments, they do end up changing the overall meaning of the story. While Liam and Josie's love story is at the core of McLaughlin's novel, with Liam referring to her as his "Forever Girl," changing Liam's son to a daughter seems to imply that this moniker could be applied to Billy instead.
