The IRS said Monday it is reversing a decades-long practice and will no longer send officers to taxpayers' homes to help them resolve their balances.
The Internal Revenue Service building in Washington, D.C. The IRS announced Monday, July 24 that it is ending"most" unannounced visits to taxpayers' homes.The IRS, citing Werfel, said that "there have been increased security concerns in recent years on multiple fronts."
The IRS also said its agents "routinely faced hazards and uncertainty" in making the unannounced visits.
