The global feminist movement has ‘’abandonned' women in Afghanistan and Iran, Iranian journalist and activist Masih Alinejad said yesterday.

“The real feminists, they’re in Iran and Afghanistan,’’ Alinejad said at the Oslo Freedom Forum in New York, where she discussed her support for the protests that have emerged in Iran since the death ofOnline videos in recent days have shown women burning hijabs and cutting their hair in public to protest Amini’s arrest last month for allegedly not wearing her hijab properly. She died three days later.

“I am not here to ask Western countries to save the Iranian people,’’ Alinejad added. “Iranian women are brave enough to save themselves. Today, I’m here to ask Western countries to stop negotiating with our murderers.’’
