Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny has been marketed as Indy's last adventure. But its ending leaves the door open for Indiana Jones 6.
Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny has been heavily marketed as Indy’s final adventure, but the ending of the movie leaves the door open for another sequel. The fifth Indiana Jones movie catches up with the titular archeologist on the brink of retirement in 1969. When he’s framed for murder and learns that a former Nazi officer is plotting to reshape history with Archimedes’ time machine, Indy returns to action one last time.
When Indy traveled back in time to 212 B.C., he wanted to stay. He didn’t feel like he had a place in 1969 and wanted to be left in the past so that he could live out the rest of his days experiencing the ancient history he spent his life studying. But Helena insisted on bringing him back to the present, and he returned to 1969 with a new lease on life.
