Spike Carlyle and Jay Jay Wilson part of main four-card event in Long Beach
Showtime Bellator MMA has put on some good shows over the years yet often struggled to snag some spotlight from the more renowned UFC.
The event presents a major opportunity for Carlyle, who is 14-3 with six wins by knockout and seven wins by submission, riding a five-fight winning streak and just entering his prime at the age of 29. “This is the biggest opportunity of my life, no doubt,” Carlyle said. “I thank God for it. I feel no pressure. I’ve prepared properly. Feel 100 percent ready. I’ve done everything I possibly can. This is my moment.”
“We really focused on timing and distance in camp,” Carlyle said. “He’s got very good wrestling skills so having that feel for the pace of the fight, picking my spots will be key. It’s about controlling emotion and adrenaline. I think that’s where my experience can help me and being at just has me feeling so much stronger. I’m in a very good place for this fight.”
