Lance McCullers Jr., doing an interview during Monday's workout, is among the candidates to start Game 2 on Thursday against the Mariners.Though they’ve decided who will take the ball, the Astros did not announce their Game 2 starter Monday due to what manager Dusty Baker said is an illness spreading through Houston’s clubhouse.
Both Framber Valdez and Lance McCullers Jr. — the presumed candidates to start Thursday's Game 2 — attended and participated in Monday’s workout at Minute Maid Park. McCullers did not face the Mariners this season. Valdez struck out 15 and surrendered six earned runs across 13 ⅔ innings against Seattle.
Baker said the team is"going to just make sure that everybody's well before we announce" the Game 2 starter.
