A Twitter user tweeted a side-by-side split image of half of the “Princess Diana” rapper’s face and half of the face of a woman who has Down syndrome.
“Down syndrome visibility AND appreciation… I thought Spice was already an amazing woman but this takes mf the cake,” wrote a fourth fan.“Love how you brought out the positivity in this post despite the original intent of the messy poster. Keep doing you Ice! Your ⭐️ will keep rising,” said another user.
Spice — whose real name is Isis Gaston — erupted on the music scene with her hit single “Munch ” last summer. She has continued to gain momentum in the hip-hop world ever since, collaborating with everyone from Nicki Minaj and PinkPantheress to Taylor Swift. The 23-year-old previously said that she doesn’t think the topic of colorism in hip-hop is “something personal” to her. However, the “Barbie World” emcee has had to deal with a lot of negativity from people who questioned if her success was due in part to the lighter hue of her skin.last month on the topic of colorism. “I feel like that’s not something personal to me. I feel like that’s been the conversation for generations and forever, since the beginning of time.
“I try not to feed into negativity because I also see that when people are trying to make that point, it’s not out of a good place. [They end up putting] somebody else down.”
