Sarah Jessica Parker shares the major no nudity condition she had for Sex and the City, the reason behind it, and the response from HBO.
Despite a title suggesting plenty of it, Sarah Jessica Parker reveals the no-nudity condition she had for taking her role in Sex and the City. A comedy revolving around the lives of four women living in the heart of New York City, Sex and the City offered a look into topical issues of the late '90s and early 2000s. The series enjoyed six seasons, a spin-off, and multiple movies, all of which saw Parker star as Carrie Bradshaw, a role that quickly became a media sensation.
"I thought the script was really interesting, and really exciting, and different, and fresh, and I’d never seen anything like that. The only thing I said to [Darren Star] that I was concerned about was that I just didn’t feel comfortable doing nudity, and I suspected that if it wasn’t in the pilot, it would be a part of a series. He said, ‘Don’t do it then … we’ll have other actors, if they feel comfortable doing it they’ll do it, but you do not have to.
