I've made $98,000 in a month on OnlyFans. There's this stigma that it's just creepy dudes on there — but most of the time, my conversations aren't sexual at all.

This as-told-to essay is based on a conversation with Laura Lux, an OnlyFans creator. It has been edited for length and clarity.

I started working as a stripper, and it felt like a"damned if you do, damned if you don't" kind of situation. If you're a woman who looks a certain way, you're going to be sexualized no matter what. I figured I might as well turn that into something that allows me to live a fun, financially secure life. I kind of blew up on MySpace just posting photo shoots with local photographers. From there, I kept going to the latest social media platforms.

I'll usually post a message to subscribers in the morning — something like"What's your plan for the week?" or"Hope everyone has a great Monday!" then I'll spend some time chatting with whoever replies. Then I take some photos or edit some content and keep an eye on my inbox. But in reality, we talk about all kinds of things. My subscribers know I'm really into Formula One racing, so they'll ask me about the latest races.
