I got laid off from my $220K job as an equity trader at Deutsche Bank. I'm no longer rich, but I'm happier than ever.

After a year, I was offered a position in Taiwan as a cash-equity sales trader. I climbed the ranks for about four years and was making $250,000. I couldn't believe how much I was making. Just over two years later, I was laid off. It was just a few weeks before Christmas and one of the scariest times of my life. I was sick to my stomach thinking about the severe financial strain.
