The defending champion is Reas, a whippet from Michigan City, Indiana.
“The top dogs in each of the 14 fastest breeds were invited to race head-to-head to see which will be crowned the Fastest Dog. They were joined by the defending champion, Reas, a whippet from Michigan City, [Indiana].”
Competitors include golden retrievers, basset hounds and Cavalier King Charles spaniels. The Puppy Dash will feature puppies racing for fun. The AKC said, the event “is a timed straight race of 100 yards where one dog runs at a time chasing a lure. It’s fast, and exciting, and you will see hair flying in the wind.”
The broadcast will be hosted by ESPN’s Phil Murphy, including play-by-play by sportscaster Carolyn Manno and analysis by Bill Ellis. Note to readers: if you purchase something through one of our affiliate links we may earn a commission.
