"For companies that use social media as a business-development platform, there's always the issue of whether the founder becomes a social-media personality," he said."It has an emotional impact — it's not a natural medium and the feedback you get is quite distorted." For Dubois, the pressure of posting constantly and receiving feedback online sparked her anxiety about being a self-starter.
But as soon as she decided to take a break, she immediately recognized the toll it had been taking. While she understood the need to detach herself from the content she created and not rely on views to determine her worth, it was impossible to separate the two, she said.Dubois plans on returning to the University of Miami to finish her degree and hopes to start incorporating local and in-person opportunities in her art business.
