The Rams’ offense was flustered by Buffalo’s two-high scheme in the season opener. They’ll likely see similar coverage against Atlanta on Sunday.
THOUSAND OAKS — Rams defensive coordinator Raheem Morris didn’t miss his chance to tell the critics they were wrong about Atlanta Falcons cornerback A.J. Terrell when his former player was mentioned during Thursday’s news conference.
Morris doesn’t have to worry about Terrell this week, but Rams coach Sean McVay and offensive coordinator Liam Coen have likely spent plenty of time scheming ways to either attack or plan around the 2021 second-team All-Pro. Terrell’s battle against star wide receiver Cooper Kupp is one of the must-see matchups of Sunday’s Week 2 game between the Rams and Falcons at SoFi Stadium.
“It’s been the trend a little bit to go kind of in that direction with two-high stuff,” Kupp said. “I do think it’s the identity of the Falcons. It’s what they’ve done for a while now, so I think it is something we expect to see. “It’s really just trying to be able to spread out the field a little bit more,” Coen said.
