During the game, Mancini also showed plenty of love for his former teammates, sharing a big hug at first base with Yordan Alvarez during the first inning and going to check on Jake Meyers after the Astros center fielder was hit in the head by a pitch in the fourth inning.
The defensive play that Mancini always will be remembered for came after regular first baseman Yuli Gurriel got hurt late in Game 5. Mancini, who hadn't played a position in the field since the final game of the regular season, filled in at first and in his very first inning of action had a two-out hard shot from Kyle Schwarber hit in his direction. If the ball had got by him, it would have tied the game in the eighth inning.
