He faces a tougher test against Alabama this week.AUSTIN — Near the end of his Q&A session with reporters at Big 12 media days in July, Texas linebacker DeMarvion Overshown sprinkled some praise on sophomore teammate Barryn Sorrell.
Sorrell stuffed the stat sheet in his first career start, recording six tackles, 2.0 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks across just 19 defensive snaps in the Longhorns’ 52-10 win. He posted the best defensive grade on the team and the sixth-best among all Big 12 edge defenders, per Pro Football Focus. Alabama dominated defending Mountain West champion Utah State last Saturday, piling up 559 yards and 30 first downs while coasting to a 55-0 win. Heisman-winning quarterback Bryce Young threw for five touchdowns and ran in another before sitting out the Crimson Tide’s final five drives.
