Clay, who first imagined the track alongside producer HXNS, said in a statement, “When Covid hit in 2020, I had been working on my album,“I wanted it to go somewhere,” Clay added. “So I reached out to JJ [Corsini] and the team at Republic and decided to release it as a benefit for all of the work lost specifically for people in the live music industry. It felt right for everyone involved.
The MusiCares COVID-19 Relief Fund is the organization’s longest running, specific relief effort since its inception in 1989. Between March 2020 and July 2021, MusiCares’ COVID relief efforts have reached 38,000 people with more than $29 million distributed.
