The first warnings of what was expected to be a stormy Thursday night have been issued.
The warning area stretches as far south as Rockport and extends into western Louisiana.
According to the weather service, a strong line of storms is expected to start moving across the Houston area around midnight and be off the coast by sunrise. Most of the area is expected to receive up to 2 inches of rain, but some isolated areas could receive up to 5 inches. Widespread flooding isn't expected, but some low-lying areas could collect water, according to the weather service.
