A lot of eyes are on the weather system that is spinning in the Gulf of Mexico. The system is what's known as a"cutoff low," when an area of low pressure essentially gets pinched off from the jet stream and stalls and spins in one place. A cutoff low can develop into a surface low – which isSounds concerning, but the National Weather Service forecast for the Houston area isn't too dire.
As the sun starts to set, the eastern Gulf of Mexico is fairly active with thunderstorm activity. However, our area is looking at mostly quiet weather for the rest of the evening, with better chances for showers and possibly thunderstorms tomorrow 🌦️⛈️
