Her Majesty Queen Sofía of Spain arrived in grand style at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston for the 2023 Sophia Awards for Excellence, presented by the Queen Sofía Spanish Institute.The award is named after the Greek word for wisdom, Sophia, and nods to the queen consort's birth as Princess Sophia of Greece and Denmark.
The evening honored another slew of familiar names. Gloria and Emilio Estefan, MFAH Wortham Chair of Latin American Art Mari Carmen Ramírez and Ignacio Torras each received Sophia Awards for Excellence.
