Like Game of Thrones before it, House of the Dragon is still very much setting up its larger story in its early episodes, moving various pieces around the chessboard that is Westeros.

Larys Clubfoot & Harwin Breakbones House of the Dragon season 1, episode 3 introduces a few new characters, but two in particular are Easter eggs and references to the books and what’s to come in the form of Lyonel Strong’s sons. First is the appearance of Larys, who has an injured foot: in the book, this was twisted at birth, and he was nicknamed “Larys Clubfoot.” There is also a mention of Harwin Breakbones, so named for his massive strength and size.

Criston Cole’s Father Served At The Home Of Lord Dondarrion Ser Criston Cole discusses his father serving at Blackhaven, which is a castle in the Dornish Marshes that serves as the home of House Dondarrion. Beric Dondarrion would’ve been Lord of Blackhaven in Game of Thrones season 1, though it’s unknown what happened after that.
