The son of Cooper Manning, nephew of Eli and Peyton Manning, and grandson of Archie Manning, Arch Manning was the subject of whirlwind recruitment. Updates were offered after every visit as odds and betting lines shifted. In the end, Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian nabbed the No. 1 quarterback.
Manning revealed his decision on Twitter, posting for the first time on the platform under an account created earlier this year. Within 20 minutes, the post had over 11,000 retweets and 25,000 likes. There’s a chance Arch could be another family member to start for an SEC program. Peyton made his name in Tennessee, and Eli followed in their father’s footsteps. In 2025, Texas is set to join the conference.
Texas was rumored to have hired longtime David Cutcliffe, a former coach of Eli’s at Ole Miss, and many pointed to that as a prelude to Manning’s commitment. Though Cutcliffe eventually took a job with the SEC. The Longhorns now have eight commits in the class, headlined by Manning and bookended by a teammate at Isidore Newman, three-star tight end Will Randle. 2022′s top quarterback, Quinn Ewers, transferred to Austin after a stint at Ohio State.
Alabama could still take two quarterbacks this cycle. Top-100 recruit Dylan Lonergan is announcing on July 5 and the Crimson Tide appears to be a contender. 247Sports currently is predicting Lonergan to South Carolina.
