The stunning LEGO exhibit opens today (Saturday) and runs through early September 🌸

This giant lily is one of 14 Lego sculptures in an exhibit that opens at Holden Arboretum on May 27. KIRTLAND, Ohio—A show of more than dozen larger-than-life LEGO Brick creations by international artist Sean Kenney opens Saturday, May 27, at the Holden Arboretum. It runs through Monday, Sept. 4. Kenney is an award-winning artist who uses LEGOs to create contemporary sculpture, portraiture, and commercial art.

“Nature Connects made with LEGO Bricks” will feature whimsical sculptures such as a monarch butterfly, a praying mantis, a mother duck, and her babies. These constructions will be distributed throughout the gardens and trails. The tallest -- “Hummingbird Feeding from a Trumpet Floweris 70.5 inches tall. It will be in a garden bed outside the Visitor Center where arriving guests will see it.

The sculptures were built in at Kenney’s studio in Brooklyn and shipped to the arboretum. Each sculpture is glued, steel-reinforced and designed to last. Kenney uses off-the-shelf, commercially available LEGO pieces. No special colors or shapes are used. Every piece is connected to others, built within the rules of the LEGO system, without cheating things into place. When the show ends at Holden Arboretum, the exhibition will be displayed at another venue. Pieces are not for sale.
