involving a N.J. Democratic consultant who ordered the murder of an associate.
Africa’s plea came a day after Sean Caddle, 44, who has worked on election campaigns throughout the state, admitted to hiring Africa and the man now identified by authorities as George Bratsenis to kill Galdieri. According to prosecutors, the deadly scheme began in April of 2014, when Caddle contacted Bratsenis to arrange the killing of Galdieri, who according to a 2014had worked for Caddle’s consulting group. No motive has been offered.
Galdieri’s death had remained an unsolved cold-case for years, until the charges were brought against Caddle. His plea on Tuesday sent shockwaves through New Jersey’s political world prompting speculation about why he agreed to a plea deal with the U.S. Attorney’s office in September. A former aide to now-retired Sen. Raymond Lesniak, Caddle had worked on the Union County Democrat’s last Senate re-election race, as well as for other candidates.
