St. Ignatius Wildcats take round 1 of CCS Division II playoffs with comeback win over Half Moon Bay

SAN FRANCISCO — St. Ignatius saw the end of their year fast approaching. Down 12 points at the half without a touchdown scored yet, the Wildcats sat in their locker room in need of a spark.

The Wildcats stormed their home field again for the second half and put up 21 unanswered points to defeat Half Moon Bay 24-15 in the first round of the CCS Division II playoffs on a cold Friday night at J.B. Murphy Field. They’ll play Aptos for the first time since 2014 in the playoffs’ second round next week.

After a successful two-point conversion, that touchdown put Half Moon Bay up 8-3. St. Ignatius couldn’t answer, going three-and-out on one drive and turning the ball over on downs in their next possession. The Cougars bled the half out with another long drive in which Harrington converted a 32-yard pass down the sideline to set up PJ Modena for a rushing touchdown.
