'Emma (Watson) was a big force of encouragement to be like, 'This will resonate with people,' ' Felton says.
The actor, now 36, recalls in his book how he wandered away from his rehabilitation facility in Malibu, California one night in an attempt to trek several miles to a bar he frequented in West Hollywood.
"Emma was a big force of encouragement to be like, 'This will resonate with people,'"Felton says."It wouldn't really seem right just to talk about all the fluffy stuff. ... After encouragement, I was given a bit more confidence in myself to go, 'You know what? This happened, and this is part of my life.'" when they shot the"Harry Potter" films.
Watson isn't the only"Potter" actor Felton's shared the book with. Jason Isaacs, who played his on-screen Death Eater dad Lucius Malfoy, has also read it. And the day before his interview, Felton went golfing with James and Oliver Phelps, aka the Weasley twins, who are also excited about it. He also writes fondly of the late Alan Rickman, who played Severus Snape. Despite his"slightly steely exterior," Rickman was a"relentlessly kind and generous man," Felton says. The late actor's book One way Rickman showed his generosity was by giving set tours to children through the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The actor stayed in character as Snape for these tours, much to the children's delight.
Struck by the devotion of these young fans, Felton immediately texted his"Potter" pals, including Chris Columbus, who directed the first two films, asking,"How did we get here?"
