New art has imagines Harry Potter characters in an '80s-style fantasy anime, and it looks like it was ripped straight out of the books.

New AI-generated art shows exactly what Harry Potter would look like in the style of an '80s anime. The Harry Potter series was adapted from the controversial author J.K. Rowling's works into eight separate films. From there, the franchise spun off into multiple Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them movies about Newt Scamander and war in the Wizarding World. The series is set to receive another revival through HBO, though there is little known about the upcoming adaptation.

Over a decade since the last Harry Potter movie ended, a Youtube video from AI Generated Art features the major Harry Potter characters fully designed and immersed in an '80s anime environment, showing the potential for a Harry Potter fantasy anime series. SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Harry, Hagrid, Lord Voldemort, Dobby, Dumbledore, Ron, Hermione, Malfoy, Snape, Professor McGonagall, Bellatrix, and Sirius Black all have the chance to step into the animated world of Harry Potter. Each also has a background designed to immerse them into their new reality, while also reflecting their internal perspective. Voldemort is shrouded in darkness, while Hagrid is in a light and welcoming forest.

Will There Ever Be An Animated Harry Potter? The Wizarding World of Harry Potter features magic, intrigue, and whimsy around every corner. Rats can turn into tea cups, children can fly on broomsticks, and trips to the bank involve complicated rollercoaster-like contraptions that take regular people tumbling through the underground. Nothing in Harry Potter can be accomplished without a great helping of magic, and it's why Harry Potter desperately needs an animated adaptation.

The upcoming HBO Harry Potter series will likely be live-action, though few details have been shared about the show. With the amount of CGI that will need to be put into Harry Potter, it may very well be worth it to animate the series. Animation could allow for a more faithful depiction of the magic of the books without having to worry about overwhelming the CGI budget or developing complex practical VFX tricks.
