If you didn’t catch “Hamilton” the last time it was in Cleveland, don’t throw away your shot to see it this time around.
CLEVELAND, Ohio --
Lin-Manuel Miranda’s sensation is returning to Playhouse Square’s KeyBank State Theatre for a six-week run from December 6-January 15. The show, which won the 2016 Tony for Best Musical, last played in Cleveland in 2018. A second national tour stop scheduled for the fall of 2020 was scrapped due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Tickets for the show will go on sale at a date in late summer to be announced. The musical isn’t part of Playhouse Square’s upcoming KeyBank Broadway Series, which will be unveiled next week. But season ticket holders to that will be given priority to purchase “Hamilton” tickets. For the uninitiated, the show tells the reimagined story of America’s first treasury secretary and George Washington’s right-hand man, Alexander Hamilton. The musical features a diverse cast and an infectious hip-hop soundtrack performed at a rapid-fire pace of 144 words per minute. Popular songs include “My Shot,” “Satisfied,” “The Room Where It Happens” and “You’ll Be Back.” A filmed version of the stage show that aired Disney+ won an Emmy for Outstanding Variety Special.
