The Help 2 Others foundation was established with support from BWWB and the Salvation Army to assist ratepayers who can’t afford their water or Jefferson County sewer bills. This year in particular, many BWWB customers are struggling with bills that are higher than some can afford to pay, often due to well-documented and persistent billing issues that have plagued thousands for more than a year.

The Lede published its story on Tuesday, and the same evening Chasiti Shepherd president of BGrace Media, the foundation’s public relations firm asked for a retraction, contradicting both the earlier comment and the customer who first noted that she had been turned down for assistance because H2O was out of money for the year.
