Tallies such as the one from the Gun Violence Archive demonstrate that mass shootings come in multiple varieties, including domestic violence, gang violence, random attacks by disturbed individuals, attacks on co-workers, and domestic terrorism, which the F.B.I.as “violent, criminal acts committed by individuals and/or groups to further ideological goals stemming from domestic influences, such as those of a political, religious, social, racial, or environmental nature.
