University Hospitals and the Cleveland Clinic are partnering to host collection efforts at 39 locations throughout Greater Cleveland as part of National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday.
Other area hospitals and community sites also are participating by offering safe, designated drug collection sites. Most sites will be open on National Prescription Take Back Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.Old or unused prescriptions can be dangerous if they fall into the wrong hands.
The agency can only collect pills or patches. No syringes, liquids or lotions, or inhalers will be accepted. To prepare for Take Back Day, patients are instructed to take an inventory of medicine cabinets to find unwanted or expired drugs. Be sure all pill bottle lids are tight, and label the bottles marking them for disposal.throughout the country on Take Back Day.
