Former Giants coach Tom Coughlin was one of 12 semifinalists in the Coach/Contributor category for consideration for the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s Class of 2024.
Buddy Parker, a two-time NFL championship-winning coach with the Detroit Lions, as its finalist in the Coach/Contributor category for consideration of the Class of 2024. Coughlin made the cut from 29 to be among 12 semifinalists.
Coughlin won two Super Bowls with the Giants in 2008 and 2012 but was forced to resign following the 2015 season after a four-year playoff drought. He finished his NFL coaching career with 170 wins, tied for 14th all-time. He got his NFL head coaching start with the expansion of the Jacksonville Jaguars in 1995.
Others included for consideration were Mike Holmgren, Frank “Bucko” Kilroy, Robert Kraft, Dan Reeves, Art Rooney Jr., Marty Schottenheimer, Mike Shanahan, Clark Shaughnessy, Lloyd Wells and John Wooten.The HOF’s Seniors Committee will meet next week to determine its finalists for election to the Class of 2024. Remaining under consideration are two former
in linebacker Maxie Baughan and tackle Al Wistert. Other nominees include Ken Anderson, Roger Craig, Randy Gradishar, Joe Jacoby, Albert Lewis, Steve McMichael, Eddie Meador, Art Powell, Sterling Sharpe and Otis Taylor. Three will advance to the finalists stage.
