Luncheon raises $250K Chernivtsi, a Western Ukrainian city hosting an influx of refugees.
The Unite for Ukraine fundraiser brought in $250,000 in support of humanitarian aid for Chernivtsi, a Western Ukrainian city that’s had a “sister city” agreement with Saskatoon for 30 years.
While the afternoon highlighted the best of Ukrainian culture and history, a video message from Chernivtsi mayor Roman Klichuk was a stark reminder of Ukraine’s present. Klichuk said knowing people in Saskatoon are working to help gives people in Chernivtsi “a little comfort, care and love” as they try to care for the rising number of people in need.
