LAST DAY: The brutal SoCal heat wave enters its 10th and final day on Friday. Unfortunately it's likely to be replaced by flash flooding as HurricaneKay moves up the coast. Full forecast from abc7dallas here:

Friday will be the 10th and final day of the heat wave, which saw record-setting temperatures in communities throughout the region. The heat combined with dry brush contributed to the spread of multiple fires that grew quickly to thousands of acres - with the peak of fire season still ahead on the calendar. But as the heat recedes to mere warmth, it will be replaced by thick humidity and then rain.

On Friday, Los Angeles and Orange counties can expect to be hot and humid, as the first pockets of moisture drift into the region before the heat wave has fully dissipated. The high temperature should hit about 97 degrees, with a 30% chance of some rain. Saturday, those areas will cool to the low 80s, with a chance of up to half an inch of rain.

Beaches will be warm Friday, seeing a high of 85 degree. When the storm arrives off the coast, it should bring a pulse hurricane swell with 3-7 foot waves.
