Kelly Dean Quewezance\u0027s gregarious nature was evident in his nickname, \u0022Kung Fu Panda,\u0022 and his efforts to make others smile.
That’s how Rylan Smallchild has been remembering the 39-year-old, who he met while working at The Lighthouse and Supported Living in 2014.
Despite life-saving efforts, Quewezance was declared dead; police have not released the cause of his death, but have said they consider it a homicide. No one has been arrested. A more serious side of him came out when Smallchild, Mcdonald and the other members of a group of four men who worked at The Lighthouse would drum, sing and smudge.“He just loved the way the drums sounded. He was always fun to sing for. He would always sit there and he would express himself about how the drums would make him feel or how he wanted to go sweat; he wanted to get involved with his roots, I guess. He was a very fun guy to be around. A very loving guy too,” Smallchild said.
Police do not believe there is another location of interest in addition to the skate park and they do not have evidence to suggest a connection between the homicide and the nearby fire, Fraser added.
