“My dad loved big ideas, he loved the projects, he loved visionary projects and he jumped right into it,” Perot’s son, Ross Perot Jr., said Thursday at a ceremony to mark the name change and open a new fixed operating base facility for private travelers. Perot donated the land and funded the development of Fort Worth Alliance Airport in the late 1980s, getting money from the city of Fort Worth and the Federal Aviation Administration to build the dual-runway facility that would soon become one of the region’s biggest industrial centers.
