Fort Bend Christian Academy players hit the field before their matchup with All Saints Episcopal School at the TAPPS Division II state championship, Friday, Dec. 2, 2022, in Waco, Texas.WACO — The Fort Bend Christian Academy Eagles knew they were close to a breakthrough after a tough first half against Fort Worth All Saints in Friday’s TAPPS Division II title game, trailing by just a touchdown with two quarters remaining.
Fort Bend Christian rallied to win its first TAPPS championship thanks to an offense that rolled up 522 total yards and saw three different players score at least two touchdowns in the title-clinching victory. Fort Bend Christian trailed 14-7 to start the third quarter, but needed only three plays to tie the game at 14-14 on a 17-yard touchdown catch by Braylon Gardoni from quarterback Brady Dever.
Fort Worth All Saints retook the lead at 17-14 with a 26-yard field goal with 3:13 left in the third quarter, but Fort Bend responded with two late touchdowns to take a 28-17 advantage to the fourth quarter.
