Former Suffolk County Assistant District Attorney and criminal justice advocate Adam Foss was charged with first-degree rape and sexual assault for allegedly raping a 25-year-old woman in her sleep.
Former Suffolk County Assistant District Attorney and high-profile criminal justice reform advocate Adam Foss has been indicted on rape charges in New York.
Prosecutors say Foss and a woman, who was 25 years old at the time of the alleged assault, had been texting and calling for a month before they met at a Midtown hotel in October 2017. She rejected his sexual advances multiple times, but prosecutors allege that he raped the woman while she was asleep, according to aFoss, 42, was charged with first-degree rape and first-degree sexual assault.
“I thank this brave survivor, who had the courage to come forward and share her story,” said Manhattan District Attorney Alvin L. Bragg Jr. in a statement. The new charges come a little more than a year after a separate sexual harassment probe in Boston. In April 2021, an independent investigation that Foss' alleged abuse of authority and inappropriate behavior with women interns while he worked in the Suffolk Country District Attorney's office from 2008 and 2016 was"troubling," but not criminal.Related:
