Mr. Bagwell, 77, who lives on the shore of Lake Lanier in northern Georgia, said he bought the ranch to be a legacy property for his family, which includes four adult children, who all like to ski and fish. Christy Belton, owner of Ranch & Resort Realty, represented the sellers. Brian Hartley and Alex Maher of Live Water Properties represented the buyer.Mr. Bagwell sold American Proteins, a company his father started in the 1940s, for $875 million, including working capital. Mr. Bagwell took over the company in 1972 and led the company through a period of rapid growth. “I was in the right place at the right time,” he said. “The poultry industry had started moving into the Southeastern U.S.
