Reports say Spencer Carbery, now an NHL assistant coach in Toronto, is under consideration for the open New York Rangers job
after bowing out of the Stanley Cup playoffs in the first round in seven games against the New Jersey Devils.
Carbery, 41, is currently an assistant coach with the NHL’s Toronto Maple Leafs, after nine years of minor league head coaching stints. Carbery coached Hershey, the American Hockey League’s affiliate of the Washington Capitals, from 2018 through 2021 and amassed a 104-50-9 career mark behind the Bears’ bench.
He was named the AHL’s 2021 Coach of the Year after posting s 24-7-2 mark with the Bears in a COVID-19 shortened season. The NHL’s Capitals and the Anaheim Ducks have also expressed interest in hiring Carbery, according to the Post report.Thanks for visiting PennLive.
