In January, Jay Barker was charged with felony aggravated felony assault with a weapon. On Thursday, he was convicted of reckless endangerment not involving a weapon.

On Thursday, he was convicted of reckless endangerment not involving a weapon, which is a misdemeanor, according to Kris Mumford, public information officer with the Metro Nashville Police Department.Barker, 49, of Hoover, was given supervised probation for 11 months and 29 days, Mumford said. He is scheduled for a probation hearing on May 11, 2023, according to court records.

As they pulled into the driveway of a nearby home, Barker allegedly reversed his vehicle “at a high rate of speed attempting to hit them, but missed,” according to the arrest affidavit. The vehicle’s occupants contacted police after Barker drove away from the home, the affidavit states. Police made contact with Barker when he later drove by the house.

The affidavit said Barker and the victim are married but separated and currently living separately. The report states there was probable cause to believe Barker did unlawfully attempt to strike the victim with a vehicle.
