Ford Has Built 150,000 Mustang Mach-Es In Just Two Years | Carscoops carscoops
Two years after introducing the all-electric Mustang Mach-E, Ford is celebrating the construction of its 150,000th example of the vehicle. And the company thinks that its production will only speed up from here., so this is an important milestone on that path. In total, it intends to build 600,000 EVs per year by the end of 2023, and 2 million per year by 2026, giving the electric crossover outsized importance for the brand.
“When we put the pony on this Mustang, we knew we’d have skeptics. What we didn’t quite know then was just how popular this car would become,” said Darren Palmer, vice president, Programs, Ford Model e. “I love seeing Mustang Mach-E vehicles on the road and talking to customers, and I am seeing more and more of them.”With the help of the Mach-E, Ford has clinched the second spot in EV sales in the USA this year, behind, of course Tesla, though the Detroit carmaker has a very long way to go before threatening the latter that holds aSales of the Mustang Mach-E have expanded to 37 countries around the world, up from 22 in the first year that it was introduced.
Regardless of market, Ford says that the vast majority of sales are coming from people who are replacing an internal combustion vehicle. In the U.S., those buyers make up 80 percent of sales, whereas they make up 90 percent of customers in Europe. The success of the Mustang Mach-E has been such that Ford is now working to upgrade is Cuautitlán Stamping and Assembly Plant in order to support the growing demand,
