Whether a school is in the top 10 or near the bottom, the 500 schools on Forbes’ top colleges list showcase the finest in American education.
We ranked colleges and universities in the U.S. based on the return on investment and outcomes they delivered for their students. Schools placed highly on our list if their students returned after their first year, graduated on time, secured high salaries with low debt, and went on to have successful careers.
We incorporated outcomes for low-income students in two measures, looking closely at six-year graduation rates and return-on-investment measures for Pell grant recipients, and we rewarded colleges that enrolled a greater percentage of low-income students.
