Troy Starr steps down at Mount Miguel High, while Del Norte decides to part ways with Leigh Cole as football coaches
The ranks of high school football coaching openings swelled by two this week with the announcement that Leigh Cole has been let go at Del Norte and Troy Starr has resigned at Mount Miguel.Rancho Bernardo’s Tristan McCoy stepped down at the end of the season and has been replaced by former NFL All-Pro Eric Weddle.Cole, who started his coaching career at Gunn High in Palo Alto, had two stints as head coach at Del Norte.
The Nighthawks beat playoff-bound teams University City and Mt. Carmel in the regular season, and San Pasqual in the playoffs before losing to Point Loma.
