Ellis, who has been in charge of the defense at Champion for the last 10 years, succeeds Keith Kaiser,“The players know and respect him, and he has a great relationship with all our coaches at Champion, not just the football coaches,” Boerne ISD athletic director Stan Leech said in a news release. “Coach Ellis will continue to build on the success that Champion has had in its rich history. He is the right person for the job, and we couldn’t be happier.
It is Ellis’ first head-coaching job. He also coached with Kaiser at Marshall. Kaiser coached Champion for 10 years and was the head coach at Marshall for three years before that.
