Pakistan's flood victims share tales of horror as record-breaking rains kill over 1,000 and inundate half of the country since mid-June

Unprecedented floods caused by record-breaking rains have inundated half of the country since mid-June.

Massive floods described by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif as "unprecedented in the last 30 years" have killed at least 1,061 people and affected more than 33 million across the country. "It took me a few seconds to realize what was going on due to the loud screams and shouting . I woke up kids and others and made them rush to the roof," Hussain recalled.

A timely operation by the army troops rescued the marooned villagers, including 20 members of Hussain's family.
