Major changes affecting Susquehanna Valley flood insurance policies could triple rates, according to reports.
The second change has to do with the FEMA floodplain maps, themselves, which are in the process of being revised based on a recent U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ study of the Susquehanna River basin.
As a result of the profound flood insurance rate increases, some municipalities are protesting the new maps and at least one, Kingston, Pa., is suing over them.
