The right thumb proved to be the strongest predictor, with a 68% accuracy rate.

The researchers reviewed fingerprint samples from 612 patients with non-affective psychosis and 844 healthy individuals.

“Although a maximum accuracy of 70% does not provide enough precision for a faultless diagnosis, fingerprint images may still be valuable, especially if they are combined with other sources of information that have already shown some predictive power in schizophrenia such as genetics and brain imaging data,” the team noted., symptoms include hallucinations, delusions and disordered thinking and behavior that impairs everyday function.
